Mostly I make my own spice blends instead of buying ready-made mixes. These are often added preservatives, so by creating the blends myself, I have complete control. It’s not that difficult, but it can pay off to have a mortar and pestle to crush the spices. The finished compositions I store in old jam jars, and the mixtures adhere up to 12 months if they are left dry and dark.
